Skip Still is our Deacon of the Month for April. He joined the Deacon Council in 2019 and will be rotating off in May of 2022. He has been a member of First Baptist Church of Pendleton since 2013. Skip holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia, and a Master of Wildlife Biology degree from Clemson University. He is a retired biologist with SCDNR where he enjoyed working with several species and diverse groups. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and grandkids, and he is active in the Outdoor Dream Foundation and has been involved with several environmental organizations and causes.
Skip has been married to Cindy for 42 years. They have two daughters, Leah and Katie, and four grandchildren: Callahan, Carter, Mary Jo, and Lucy.
Skip’s favorite Bible verse is Love Thy Neighbor (Mark 12:30-31) and his favorite Bible story is The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). He co-facilitates the Current Events Sunday School Class, and has served on and chaired the Mission Committee. He currently serves on the Nominating Committee.
His favorite quote is from Billy Graham: “It is my job to love them and God’s job to judge them.” Skip says, “My approach to Christianity and Heaven is pretty simple — Believe, Love thy Neighbor, and have Faith. Embrace those three.”
