All in-person church services and activities will be canceled through at least March 27.
This decision was made in consultation with the deacons, staff, and church council, due to concerns regarding the pandemic coronavirus, COVID-19. This means we will NOT have Wednesday night supper, Bible Study, or children/youth activities on March 18 or 25. We will NOT meet at church for Sunday School and worship on Sunday, March 22. We will have some form of online worship available for Sunday, as well as some kind of virtual Bible study material for Wednesday nights. (Information will be sent by email. If you do not receive the regular Thursday email but would like to receive information about virtual worship and Bible study materials during this time, please email email@example.com to let us know.) Deacons and staff will be checking in with flock members. While the decision to cancel services is difficult, it is made with the intention of protecting our church family and those with whom we may come into contact. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. The more contact we have with other people, the greater our likelihood of contracting (and then spreading) the virus. There are now 2 confirmed cases in Anderson County. Other countries have been dealing with this for weeks and even months. Some of the outbreaks have been connected to churches. We have a number of people in our church family who fall into the “higher risk category (older adults and/or those with underlying medical conditions). Physically distancing ourselves from one another seems to be one of the most significant ways we can slow the spread of this virus.
Church Office: At this time, our plan is for the church office to continue to be open as staff health and availability permits. Staff members with children will likely need to work from home due to school closures. The church voicemail will be checked regularly, so if you cannot reach the church, please leave a message, or contact Pastor Jennifer Rygg at 864-760-7135.
Generosity: Even though operations of the church will be limited, your financial support is important. We will likely have increased needs in the community, as will our mission partners. Even in the absence of an offering plate being passed down a pew, please support our church at this crucial time.
